Cockatiel Chaos

Beaky is a cockatiel. He lives with his owner, Helen, on the west coast of England.
Cockatiels like to explore the world around them. Helen often allows the bird to fly around the house.
One day Helen is hoovering the carpets. Generally, parrots do not like loud noise - unless they are making it! But Beaky is a curious bird.
Helen takes the brush off the vacuum cleaner hose to dust the corners. Beaky flies down to watch more closely.
A second later, he disappears into the pipe.
‘Oh no!’ cries Helen, turning off the machine. She tries to get him out but he is stuck in the pipe. She calls the fire service.

‘We got him out in the end,’ a fire-fighter explains after the rescue. ‘Beaky rolled onto the floor. He didn’t look very happy.’
Soon Beaky is back flying around the house. But not when the vacuum cleaner is on.
